Minimum Configuration
For each Generic Modbus point, as a minimum you have to specify these features on the appropriately named <Point Type> tab, then put the point In Service and save the configuration:
- The controller on which the point is located
- The point’s address
- The data Retrieval Interval
- The Scan Group (Confidence Interval)
- For Digital points, the Number of Bits
- For Analog points, the Data Type, and the Scaling
- For String points, the Requested String's Length, the String Type, and whether the string is writable.
Additionally, if the point is an output point, you have to:
- Enable and configure the required properties on the Control tab.
If you want Generic Modbus point data to be stored historically, you also have to:
- Enable and configure logging on the Historic tab if data is to be stored historically in the server database.
